Bastet is the cat | feline Neter who is the “Eye of Ra who protects her Father Ra” making her the daughter of Ra in Kemetic teachings. Bast | Bastet is the manifestation of the solar eye, seen as an extension of Ra’s energy. She is a hunter, protector (especially of the people who takes care of her), rules fertility, female sensuality, sunrise, dancing, pleasure, drinking, music & offerings. Bast is see as one of the guardians of the underworld, working closely with Anpu | Anubis. She is known to work with the other Neter such as Ra, Sekhmet etc. There is a difference between Sekhmet & Bastet though sometimes seen as a extension of her.
Recommend ways to start working with Bastet -
Setting up a basic altar
Make a Vervain altar water and clean your altar before placing offerings
If you don’t have a statue of Bastet, print a picture of the original wall art or one that resonates
Place offerings on altar, of your choosing
Meditate at your altar daily
Try not to ask her for things right away, focus on building a relationship first
